Happy Birthday, Eldon.

Battle Royal

Since no one else has uploaded these picks, I took the liberty of doing so. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun! And a lot of scars to prove it. Cuddos to Olivia for being the only female!

Whores, As it Were

Oh man, I bet this title will get us all sorts of interesting traffic through Google searches....

After a spirited conversation with Blanka, we've come up with a new way to describe the wonderful people of AIESEC Calgary. It all started when Blanka described herself as a "Communication Whore." I then realized that I was a "Blogging Whore." We came up with a few others:

Andrew Nazareth
- Sarcasm Whore
Peter Villanueva
- Protocal Whore
Layial El Hadi
- Gmail Whore
Eldon Lew
- Branding Whore
Messalina Tiro
- HaWT Whore
Henry Kung
- Movie Whore
Alan Cheung
- Knowledge Whore
Diana Tran - Social Whore
Liz Watterworth - Busy Whore
Iris Wong - Matching Whore
Vania Sze - Cost-Minimizing Whore

Just in case anyone is offended, I should point out that the term "whore" in this context is not durogatory in any way and is in fact an endearing term, of sorts.

Another Adventure Has Begun...

Our very own Alex Martin departed for the Czech Republic this evening. I believe I speak for everyone in AIESEC Calgary by wishing him the best of luck in Prague and whatever he finds himself doing for his internship.

Bon Voyage.

EnCana Dozen Internship Matching: Mission Accomplished

OMFG!!! As of 1:00 p.m. MST today, all 12 EnCana internships have been matched!!!

After losing sleep over major bumps in the road, we are now just waiting on some rocky visa processes and awaiting the last TN's acceptance document copies. (By the way, it's another match with Brazil!)

EnCana fall celebration event planning halfway complete! Just need to find a caterer :)

New Blogger

Abner has joined the blogging ranks. Check out his blog via the link in the sidebar.

Also, I'd like welcome Athena and Samantha to this blog.

News...sort of

I confess. I haven't really been paying attention to what's going on in the world this week. All I've really heard about is the AIDS conference going on in Toronto.

Perhaps this is a bit optimistic, but why don't people add news stories they think others should know about? Just post a comment with the link to the story. You can do that by adding "(<)a(>) minus the parantheses" before the link address and "(<)/a(>) minus the parantheses" after.

Thanks.

Bon Voyage, Layial

I've heard rumours that our own president, Layial, is off to Poland today for IC. It all makes sense, really. The luggage, the telling everyone she was going to Poland, the frantic all-nighters trying to get her assignments done.

Have a great trip, Layial, and bring us all back something nice (my address is....)

Kent's Farewell - IMPORTANT LOCATION CHANGE -

Sooo as many of you know our beloved Kent is leaving us for bigger and better things (Egypt)...

However before he leaves we will be having a final dinner tonight...

That being said please make sure you come out tonight to say goodbye to one of the greatest AIESECer's I have met....

Internal and External News

A few announcements to make before the news:

1. Blanka has now entered the Blogosphere…see the sidebar for the link.

2. Jeannie’s match with Romania has been rescinded due to a shady visa situation.

I’m sure you all heard about the plots to blow up planes flying to the US. If not, read about it here, here, and here.
A huge typhoon has hit south-eastern China. -BBC
Turkmenistan will build an independence monument. -RFE
A 5.9 earthquake hit Mexico this morning. -Reuters

That typhoon is getting awfully close to Liz. I hope she has a good umbrella.

Happy Birthday

The day has finally arrived…Iris’ Birthday.

I’ve heard that nobody knows where the party is actually taking place…just that Iris is getting wasted and then crashing at Diana’s place.

Happy Birthday, Iris.

Angela's Birthday

Hey Y'all,

Since my b-day falls on a weekday (which is not Friday) next week, I figured we should get together and have some fun on Saturday, August 19!

We'll kick things off at Bottlescrew Bill's Old English Pub (140 - 10 Avenue S.W.) at 8:00PM. http://www.bottlescrewbill.com/home.html

Then we're going to get a little fun with some dancing at Plush Lounge on the corner of Macleod Trail and 9th Ave. S.W. some time between 10:00PM and 11:00PM. I'm going to see if I can get a good deal for us at Plush somehow!

Or since I don't really know the Lounge scene as well as most of you, please also send me suggestions of good lounges in the downtown area!

Please confirm with me ASAP (within 1 or 2 days) if you can come so that reservations can be made, and you won't be "off the list"

Viktor Yanukovych is named Prime Minister in Ukraine. -BBC
Coca Cola and Pepsi products in India rumoured to contain pesticides. -BBC

Good thing I stayed away from Coke and Pepsi in India….

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why the naming of Viktor Yanukovych as PM is significant?
