There's an Austrian arriving in Calgary soon? Wicked!
That's right! Christina Tappauf is coming to Calgary on June 1 at 4 p.m. from Austria! (I'll let you guys know if there are any changes.) Be there or be square! Introducing, Christina:
Christina will be working for WorldSkills 2009!
Unfortunately, she had surgery to pull out her wisdom teeth, so I didn't get the chance to know her too personally. But...
Harsh has a friend in Christina's local. From the e-mail that Harsh sent us, Christina has done some great work for her local! I'm hoping she'll have an equally rewarding experience with Calgary AIESECers!
Next steps?- company prep presentation, reception, accomodations! woot!

ICX takes it outside
I propose for more outdoor meetings! I'll bring bug spray next time.
ICX team bonding activity - tallest free standing structure with spaghetti and marshmellows as materials. Iris, Tea, Alan and I won that one and it was even still standing when the other team threw a marshmellow at it and took a chunk out of the bottom.

Woo, NLDC '06
[So this was something I wrote for my own blog so it might come off like something with a different intended audience, but I figured it'd be cool to tell you guys too. I had an amazing time and it was surprisingly inspirational. I also see that the camera was a total bitch to me (see the banquet picture Diana has below where I think I'm blinking, but the expression is just completely weird, but let's save that for later. Excuse me if a lot of this doesn't come across quite as coherently. I need sleep.]
I spent the past few days in Hamilton, Ontario for AIESEC Canada's National Leadership Development Conference. It was a fantastic learning opportunity and a lot of fun to boot. I met a ton of great new people, got to know some of Calgary a bit better and on the whole was inspired to take more action in the organization.
It took some time, but I think I got over the horrified embarassment caused by the cult-like cheers and dances of AIESEC. Some of the other first-timers were a bit apprehensive as well (like Sam and Jeremy at the beginning) and others didn't let it phase them (Shane).
I had a great time even though I had couple of Accutane-related miseries, thanks for being good to me about that, I just hope I didn't screw up the atmosphere any. But enough about that. Other than that, things were fantastic. I met so many new people, but I still feel a bit like I don't know you guys well enough, still, there's always time for that back here. ^^
So, since I'm absolutely exhausted from the conference and the lack of sleep and more drinking than sadly have I ever participated in in my life, I'm going to leave you with a couple of special little stories:
Most Embarassing & Funny Moment:
I needed a bit of fresh air before I got a fatigue-induce aneurysm so I walked outside and was making a quick little loop around the residence area. I was walking up some steps when I managed to snag the bottoms of my jeans on something, trip and fall while simultaneously tearing a massive gash into the inseam of my jeans exposing most everything that should not be exposed. If this wasn't bad enough, the horrifying thing was trudging back to the res building and having some of the OC sitting outside and having them look both mildly confused and laughing at the remnants of my clothing incident. So now there's video since Beth wanted a picture and being the sport that I am, I gave it to her without realising she was taking a video. Very special.
Most Braindead Moment:
This morning before I left I went back to my room to get my deoderant. Simple enough. Sadly, I was actually carrying the thing with me back into the room where I put it down and then picked it up again before putting it down again and going out the door only to realise that I'd forgotten it inside. This happened about four or five times. I have a brain. Somewhere.
I have so much more to tell, but I am super tired and I need sleep. I'll tell it one day in one form or another. I at least hope I made you smile some with my lack of mental functionality and if this entire thing didn't make one ounce of sense, you'll at least know why.

Calgary In The Front...
What: National Leadership Development Conference
Where: Hamilton, Ontario
When: May 5-8
Calgary Delegates: Layial, Andrew, Peter, Alan, Vania, Angela, Henry, Diana, Kris, Jeremy, Samantha, Shane and Iris
The conference has ended and we are now pumped to continue with the learnings that we have gained from this conference. It was an intense 5 days packed with seminars, panels, discussions but of course there was also the fun! I am excited to bring back NLDC to this local!!! We will be remembered for our t-shirts and our rowdiness (we won the spirit award - woohoo! - second time in a row). I am so proud of everyone for giving so much spirit to the conference and representing our local.
I wish I had more pictures - I only took pictures of the beginning and end of the conference but I'm sure that out of the 12 of us, we have some pretty awesome things to show you guys. I'd also like to mention that I have never witnessed as many hook ups and scandals at a conference before this one. Like WOW comes to mind.
Also, best of luck to Messalina and Harshitha as they will be on the MC for the 06-07 term. I will miss you two soooo much.

Embarrassment
A team that puts in an effort such as the one exemplified last night does not deserve to go to the next round. I guess it's time for all those bandwagon jumpers to hitch on to the Edmonton train and ride it into oblivion.

Oiler Fans Not Welcome
Could it be that Edmonton and Calgary might just play in the next round?
I’m foreseeing hockey-related fisticuffs in both cities. Perhaps Oilers’ fans will be detained on-sight in Calgary and vice versa?
Oh, and congratulations are in order for Athena Chen. Not only was her birthday on Saturday, but she matched herself with a company in Berkley, California.
It also hasn’t been broadcast that Elizabeth Watterworth has been matched with a Hong Kong TN and will be leaving at the beginning of July. Congrats.
